Phalena

Phalena is a spacefaring moth, a member of a polymer-based alien species.

Background

Not much is known about Phalena just yet. His species and home planet has yet to be encountered.

Personality

An adventurous lone wolf, Phalena is unafraid of death but only resorts to violence in a pinch; otherwise, he prefers to outmaneuver and outwit his antagonists.

Appearance

Phalena resembles a Luna moth (Actias luna) with a white body and large, green wings attached to his back. He has two large antennae that stick upwards from his head. His eyes are completely black and featureless.

His body is smooth, shiny, hollow, and semi-transparent—in many ways resembling Terran pool toys. He is relatively tall and slim.

Most of the time his wings are folded. When folded, his wings have the approximate appearance of a cape with the bottom forking into two distinct parts.

Abilities

Phalena’s shares many abilities that are common to his species:

  • The ability to absorb and incorporate compatible polymers into his body, adding to his mass.
  • The ability to elastically stretch and squash parts of his body to varying degrees.
  • No dependency on food, drink, or oxygen; although he does have to maintain a gaseous filling to retain a rigid form.
  • Immunity to pain.
  • Resistence to injury and dismemberment. Detached parts of his body can remain alive and sentient indefinitely, and are able to regroup together to reform his body unless completely destroyed.

Phalena’s ship

Phalena’s space ship is a small vessel, a cargo and courier ship, usually crewed by Phalena himself.

It is composed of a wide, flat delta wing-shaped primary hull with a narrower, centrally aligned secondary hell attached to the keel from the bow and extending partially off the stern of the primary hull.

The primary hull normally carries cargo, with engineering systems and Phalena’s living quarters in the secondary hull.

The bridge is located at the aft of the primary hull with a direct connection to the secondary hull for rapid access.
